Oxfam Unwrapped - Pile of Poo;

Hello Lovelies;

Oxfam is a charity that's close to my heart. I can remember volunterring in their charity shops in high school and making so many amazing memories, friends and life experiences which has helped me in every job since. I've had the amazing opportunity to work with them again as a 'Blogger against Poverty,' on their Oxfam Unwrapped project. The project I've picked is Pile of Poo, which I will go into more detail about, but the have a wide range of gifts to give that aid and save lives.

This gift isn't a normal pile of poo - it's manure and organic fertiliser (100% Natural) which is the ideal mix to help families grow a lot more crops. The families also get eco-friendly farming techniques to aid them to get the best out of the materials. It's a sad thought to think that theres enough food in the world and yet one in eight people go to bed hungry and the climate that they're in makes it a lot harder with their unpredictable weather conditions of flooding and droughts. 500,000 people have already benefited by the support to grow their crops in '14.

"Ida Swen lives on the outskirts of Monrovia, Liberia, with her seven children. Next to her home

is a thriving garden growing cassava, corn and ochre. Right now, it produces enough to help supplement her family’s diet. But yields from their kitchen garden will be far bigger, thanks to their Oxfam bio-fill toilet. This specially designed loo not only helps keep the family healthier, but it houses native ‘African night crawler’ worms, which feed on poo.

The bi-product of this process can then be used as compost that will help Ida grow her vegetables.
