Beauty Box Swap;

Tuesday 18 February 2014

Hello Lovelies

Early this week I joined a group on Facebook called Beauty Box Swap. You can go on the site and swap or sale beauty items, as well as fashion items. I put a few items on the group and a lovely lady called Tara and we've swapped a few items which I'm going to show you today.

The first time I put items on and they took her fancy, I swapped them for a few make up bits that I no longer used/wanted any more and swapped them for - Benefit Fine One One I've wanted this for awhile, but I couldn't part with £20+ for it. I've tried it in stores and every time I've done so it didn't look all that great. I gave Tara a list of items I wanted to trade my items for, and she said she had Fine One One still boxed and swatched once. The other item I got was TheBalm Mary-Lou Manizer This was brand new as she allowed me to pick anything from the Birchbox shop under £30 - I've wanted this highlighter for ages and I wasn't going to not buy it given the chance. The last few things I got from the swap were all little samples, but they were all great. I got a 4.0ml size of Benefit Benetint. A mini Benefit They're Real Mascara and a 5ml sample of the Estee Lauder Illuminating Perfecting Base.

The second time I put items on the site, she wanted to swap a few things again (I wasn't complaining). This time I got a full size of the Marc Jacob Honey Perfume - This didn't come with a lid, and is a tester but I didn't moan about that as it's a beautiful scent. A 30ml size of the Vichy Idealia Life Serum - I've got lots of serums, and even though I've tried and loved samples of this serum, I couldn't buy it whilst still trying to use up so many other serums. The Nourish Golden Glow is a Illuminating Face Shimmer is a product you apply after your primer and before base, or you can mix it in with your base and have a glowing face. I have't used this yet, but it looks beautiful when I've swatched it and it does give a golden glow - summer favourite maybe? The only make up product I got in this swap was the Estee Lauder Pure Colour Lipstick in Rose Tea - This is a beautiful colour and since I hadn't tried any Estee Lauder lipsticks before I jumped at the chance of getting my hands on it. It's a more natural colour if you apply sheer, or can be applied more heavy for a deeper rose colour.  Another exciting swap product was the Yonka Invigorating Mist - A toner for dry skin. I don't normally use toners as it does dry my skin out. This is alcohol free and contains 5 different oils - It's also 99% natural. Two product I've got that I already use and will continue to use is the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish and the Laura Mercier Foundation Primer - I use both of these and love them. The Liz Earle is 30ml and primer is 14.7ml which are both decent sizes.

I am so happy with the swaps so far. We're meant to be swapping a few more items but that's it for now. I'm been very lucky because there are times when you cannot trust the people you swap with. I always send items recorded and requested she did the same. I send it asap and always keep in contact with her to let her know they're sent or when I'm going to the post office. I think it's worth joining the group if there items you want to swap or sell.

Have you tried a beauty box swap before?

  1. I love the idea of a beauty box swap. How do you organise one? I would love to do an Australian version but dont know the first step how to organise it and make sure everyone has someone to swap with.
    I would appreciate the advice.

    1. Hey Renee,

      I just joined the group on Facebook. They have UK and US swaps, so they might have Aus' ones as well. You put a picture of all the items you want to sell or swap. You can sell/swap them all together or singly. Not everyone gets a box though as it's basically a group where you put unwanted beauty items and you swap or sell them to someone who wants them. Hope this is helpful. If you need anymore info I'd be happy to help with it.

  4. Interesting!
    I haven't heard of this before. I feel like there are a lot more "swaps" and subscription boxes for beauty than there are for fashion.
    Great post!
